Before Your Appointment

Why Prep Matters

Well-prepped lips improve pigment retention, healing, and the final appearance.

2+ Weeks Before

  • Pause retinoids, AHAs, and aggressive facials around the lips. These can sensitize or thin delicate skin, hindering pigment retention.
  • Avoid laser, chemical peels, Botox, or fillers near the lips. If you've had fillers, wait at least 4 weeks to avoid swelling issues.

1 Week Before

  • If you're prone to cold sores, start antiviral medication as prescribed by your Doctor.
  • Hydrate, exfoliate, and balance - gently exfoliate lips once or twice daily (e.g., sugar scrub), then moisturize with balm or a hydrating mask.

2-3 Days Before

  • Avoid blood thinners or stimulants - skip alcohol, caffeine, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, niacin, and vitamin E.
  • Stay well hydrated - drink plenty of water leading up to your session.

Day of Appointment

  • Start with clean, bare lips. Remove all makeup, gloss, or SPF.
  • Eat beforehand - a light meal helps stabilize blood sugar during the multi-hour session.
  • Bring inspiration if you'd like - lipstick/liner swatches or photos help us fine-tune your desired shade and shape.

Important Note: If you have any active cold sores, open sores, or infections around the lips, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.
